Ridiculously Complicated Contraption for Achieving Simple Objectives

INTRODUCTION
I have animated a ridiculously complicated contraption in which the objective is simple, added sound effects and music of your own choice. I edited it in premiere pro.
Planning
The plan for this project was to have each object fall and hit off each other to bring the character toilet roll. As that is something everyone at some point in their life experiences. I also set up each scene like we did before for the Maria dance assignment.
Schedule
My schedule was seriously tight as I thought the assignment was due on the 18th not the 12th. So there was no real structure to my schedule. I set up my scenes and then brought Maria into one or two of them and began to animate as drastically and quickly as I could.
Mood Board and Colour Pallet
My mood board and colour pallet is the same as the modelling assignment as it is the same location.
Resource Material
I didn’t have time to produce videos of myself knocking things over in my bathroom and as you can tell from my video I don’t actually own rollers and have no idea how they bounce. I also did not have time to fix their bounce with the graph editor. (I know how bad they look).
STORY
Storyboard
My storyboard was the same sketch used in the modelling assignment.
Animatic
I had everything ready and set up to fall before I started this part of the assignment o to be honest this video is my animatic since I couldn’t actually spend time improving each step.
Block test
I didn’t have time to go past the block test or animatic as I’ve mentioned a few times but I did test out using Nparticals for water and trying to use the fluid water also. This did not pan out in time enough for me to use it in my video.
DESIGN
Character Design
I was meant to bring in Maria into the beginning and end of the assignment however I only managed to bring her in for the beginning. I had a lot of problems with the Abx picker even though I had the script in the correct places.
Sound
The sound is random sound effects that I found on YouTube. I do not think that most suit the object I assigned them with but I did not have time to make my own.
THE ANIMATION PROCESS
Pose to pose
I tried to do as much as possible in a very short amount of time. This means that I had to leave out half of my ideas. (the water overflowing in the sink causing the scales to smoke) I spent time trying to get Marias facial expression right and a lot of time trying to get her to the toilet in the first place without breaking the rig.
Timing
The most time I spent worrying about the timing was in premier pro where I slowed down some parts of the video and linked them up with the sound.
RENDERING AND COMPOSITING
Rendering
I did not get the chance to actually render my video which you can see because when I brought in the play blasts to premiere pro and exported them back out the quality decreases hugely. The video becomes very jumpy and fuzzy.
Reflective Analysis
As mentioned many times I thought this assignment was due on the 18th and not the 12th. If it had of actually been due on the 18th I feel I would have gotten everything I wanted in the scenes. Like Maria in the beginning and the end, changing the texture of her trousers, water and having time to smooth out the animation process and actually render my film so that the quality is better. If I was to do this again I’d definitely give myself more than 19 hours to do it. I really don’t want to hand this up because it’s such low quality work but in the end something is better than nothing.
